Job summary

Corewell Health’s outpatient clinic team is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical operations at the Gerber Hospital site in Fremont, MI. This role involves assisting physicians and nurses, greeting patients, and performing routine administrative tasks in a fast-paced environment.

The position offers a part-time schedule (approx. 8 hours weekly) with a $3,000 sign-on bonus for external applicants or current CHW MA Apprentice Students.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program OR 1 year direct patient-care experience.
• 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting preferred.
• BLS certification required within 90 days; CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/NRCMA certification within 120 days.

Responsibilities

• Support clinical team to ensure delivery of high-quality patient care.
• Assist with patient check-in/out and care coordination.
• Maintain accurate patient records and assist with clerical tasks as needed.

Scope of work

As a Medical Assistant with Corewell Health, you’ll be a member of our clinical support team and work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of the best possible care. You’ll be a vital part of our team, making a real difference in the lives of our patients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent Required
• Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on, in-person clinical skills OR a minimum of one (1) year of experience working specifically in the role of a Medical Assistant, LPN, Paramedic or EMT performing direct patient care and clinical support functions consistent with an MA scope of practice Required
• 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting Preferred
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required within 90 Days
• One of the following Required within 120 Days

  • AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
  • NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA)
  • NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
