Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a Medical Assistant to coordinate patient care under the supervision of a health care provider. The role involves rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, documenting history and screening, and supporting office operations.

The position requires completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent, with certification within 120 days if not yet certified. A sign-on bonus of $1,000 is offered for external hires.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High School / GED or completion of a Medical Assistant Program.
• Certification requirements: graduate within five years or proof of one year MA work in last three years; certification within 120 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care under supervision of the health care provider.
• Prepare and room patients; obtain vitals and update medical history; screen tobacco and meds.
• Perform back office testing per AHN protocols; assist with examinations.
• May serve as a scribe with additional training.
• Document in the EHR according to standards and workflows; complete clerical duties as assigned.
• May require floating between physician locations.
