The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for assisting physicians, PAs, or NPs with clerical duties, patient flow, patient care, and procedures.
Prepares the examination room, escorts patients, and cleans the room after exams.
Maintains efficient patient flow and proper preparation for visits.
Prepares and reviews pertinent information needed for patient visits.
Communicates and provides care respecting the patient's age, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs.
Answers calls professionally, directs calls, and takes accurate messages.
Schedules appointments according to departmental guidelines.
Stocks examination rooms with necessary supplies and assists in ordering supplies.
Reconciles encounters daily per policy guidelines.
Communicates promptly with supervisors about issues or concerns.
Performs within the scope of practice.
Obtains vital signs and documents them accurately in the EHR.
Reviews and updates medication lists and allergies, understanding prescription procedures.
Uses EHR and Practice Management System effectively to enter orders, schedule, and provide referrals.
Adheres to universal safety precautions when administering medications and disposing of medical waste.
Maintains proficiency with department-specific equipment and reports malfunctions.
Facilitates transition of care to UCC/Hospital.
Demonstrates flexibility with work schedules.
Performs other duties as assigned, including duties not directly listed.
Provides scribing services as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Travel to satellite locations as needed.
