Job summary

Hometown Urgent Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians with clinical and administrative duties. You will take histories, measure vital signs, perform tests and injections, and assist with exams while ensuring patient comfort and safety.

You will maintain records, handle lab paperwork, and support referrals and education for patients in a fast-paced urgent care setting.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years experience in a physician practice or clinic preferred.
• Basic computer skills, including EMR
• CPR certification required
• Ability to function independently and exercise good judgment

Responsibilities

• Take patient history and obtain vital signs.
• Perform basic testing or screenings (vision, audio, urine drug screens, breath alcohol, EKGs, PFT).
• Perform phlebotomy for lab samples as needed.
• Complete lab paperwork accurately for tests (blood, urine, tissue, culture).
• Administer subcutaneous, intradermal, and intramuscular injections with proper documentation.
• Conduct point-of-care testing (strep, mono, glucose, influenza, urine pregnancy, urinalysis).
• Dispense and document medications and other treatments.
• Maintain sterile technique and equipment sterilization; operate autoclave.
• Coordinate records for ancillary care and referrals; educate patients.
• Assist providers during exams and procedures; manage patient flow.
