Qualifications

  • Continued maintenance of BAT and Drug Screen Certifications after hire.

Schedule: Full Time

Shift: Days M-F 6:30 AM - 3:30 PM

The role you’ll contribute:

Reporting to the Practice Manager and under the supervision of Providers, the Medical Assistant cares for patients and performs a variety of patient care activities. Adheres to state, federal, and organizational guidelines to ensure quality care and patient safety, with support from the Clinical Excellence team. Maintains organization and facilitates patient flow, actively participates in customer service, and fosters respectful relationships.

  • Enhances patient experience by creating and owning customer service initiatives.
  • Properly documents and reports all procedures and assessments per department policy.
  • Assesses patients during clinical check-in, documents medical information and vital signs, and looks for signs of abuse or neglect.
  • Performs and administers treatments, medications, and follow-up assessments ordered by providers, verifying as needed. Responds to clinical emergencies and triage situations.
  • Performs diagnostic tests such as EKG, spirometry, audiometry, titmus, and pulse oximetry. Conducts forensic testing in accordance with DOT and Florida Drug-Free Workplace Guidelines, including urine drug screens, blood/breath alcohol testing, oral fluids, and hair testing.
Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with externship completion, or 1+ year of related work experience, or 6 months relevant experience within an AdventHealth facility
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - AAMA
  • CPR certification
  • Continued maintenance of BAT and Drug Screen Certifications after hire
  • Current certification by one of the following:
    • AMCA for Clinical Medical Assistant
    • AMT for Registered Medical Assistant
    • NAHP for Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant
    • NCCT for National Certified Medical Assistant
    • NHA for Registered Clinical Medical Assistant
    • AAH for Nationally Certified Medical Assistant
    • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant from NPS
    • NCMA for Registered Clinical Medical Assistant Specialist
    • Paramedic – Licensed in Florida

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous urgent care or ED experience
