Qualifications

  • 1 year of related experience or graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • CPR Certification and maintain BAT and Drug Screen Certifications.

Schedule: Full Time

Shift: Full time; hours vary within Centra Care hours of operation (Monday-Friday 8am-8pm, Saturday-Sunday 8am-5pm, some holidays). Flexibility required; schedule built a month in advance.

Location: Travel required within a 25-mile radius from your home location.

The Role:

Under supervision, the Medical Assistant provides patient care, performs clinical activities, and ensures safety and quality standards are met. Responsible for maintaining organization and facilitating patient flow, while delivering outstanding customer service and respectful relationships.

Team Contributions:

  • Create and own the patient experience through excellent customer service.
  • Accurately document procedures and assessments per departmental policies.
  • Assess patients during clinical check-in, record medical info and vital signs, and identify signs of abuse or neglect.
  • Administer treatments, medications, and follow-up assessments as ordered; respond to emergencies and triage needs.
  • Perform diagnostic tests (EKG, spirometry, audiometry, etc.) and forensic testing following regulations.
  • Complete check-out procedures and communicate care instructions to patients or families.
  • Perform safety checks and follow infection control protocols, including PPE use and hand hygiene.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist in training new staff.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of related experience OR graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with externship OR 6 months relevant experience within AdventHealth.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Maintain BAT and Drug Screen Certifications post-hire.

Must be certified and maintain certification by one of the following:

  • AAMA, AMCA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, NHA, AAH, NPS, or NCMA.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous urgent care or ED experience.
