Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant-Urgent Care is responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. Responsibilities include appointment scheduling, chart management, providing information to patients to maximize their benefit from clinic services, and interviewing patients or their representatives to obtain identifying and verifying information such as name, address, age, date of birth, social security number, occupation, insurance details, and obtaining necessary authorizations. The role also involves interfacing with the PBX operator and reception areas, operating a computer to input and retrieve data, communicating effectively with patients across all age groups using age-specific techniques, maintaining proficiency in medical terminology, and conveying a positive image of the organization.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • Minimum of six months experience in Urgent Care, Primary Care physician practice, or direct patient care preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Training program, or equivalent experience, or EMT license preferred.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Must have BLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Office Laboratory Assistant License from the State of Nevada required within 90 days of hire outside of the Cardiology Practices.
