The Medical Assistant-Urgent Care is responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. Responsibilities include appointment scheduling, chart management, providing information to patients to maximize their benefit from clinic services, and interviewing patients or their representatives to obtain identifying and verifying information such as name, address, age, date of birth, social security number, occupation, insurance details, and obtaining necessary authorizations. The role also involves interfacing with the PBX operator and reception areas, operating a computer to input and retrieve data, communicating effectively with patients across all age groups using age-specific techniques, maintaining proficiency in medical terminology, and conveying a positive image of the organization.
