Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the Oncology Surgical HOPD team at Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion in Grand Rapids. This full-time role supports the cancer care team, assisting providers and coordinating patient care in a fast-paced outpatient clinic.

The ideal candidate will have a MA training program or equivalent experience, BLS certification within 90 days, and MA certification within 120 days. Day shift, 40 hours per week, with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on, in-person clinical skills training OR a minimum of one year of direct patient care in MA scope of practice.
• 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting preferred.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 Days
• One of CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA certification required within 120 Days

Responsibilities

• Support the clinical team to ensure delivery of high-quality patient care.
• Assist physicians and nurses with patient exams and procedures.
• Provide patient intake, triage, and administrative support.
• Maintain accurate medical records and assist with scheduling.

Practice Overview

We focus on supporting patients through their cancer journey for GI, and Melanoma cancers. Our physicians/providers provide surgical services and cancer health services together within our practice. We have RN’s, medical assistants, and PSR’s to help provide support for our team and patients. We provide amazing care coordination.

Scope of work

As a Medical Assistant with Corewell Health, you'll be a member of our clinical support team and work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of the best possible care. You'll be a vital part of our team, making a real difference in the lives of our patients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent Required
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on, in-person clinical skills training OR a minimum of one (1) year of experience working specifically in the role of a Medical Assistant, LPN, Paramedic or EMT performing direct patient care and clinical support functions consistent with MA scope of practice Required
• 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting Preferred
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required within 90 Days
• One of the following Required within 120 Days
  • AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
  • AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
  • NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA)
  • NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
