Job summary

Corewell Health’s Internal Medicine practice in Grand Rapids is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join a busy clinical team. You will work alongside physicians, APPs, and care coordinators to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care in an on-site outpatient setting at 426 Michigan St NE.

The role requires a High School diploma and completion of an accredited MA program or comparable experience, with BLS and MA-related certifications pursued within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of accredited Medical Assistant training program OR 1 year direct MA/LPN/Paramedic/EMT experience.
• 1 year of relevant healthcare setting experience preferred.
• BLS certification required within 90 days.
• MA CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/NRCMA certification required within 120 days.

Responsibilities

• Be a member of the clinical support team coordinating with physicians and APPs.
• Assist with patient care and clinical support functions per MA scope of practice.
• Support scheduling, patient flow, and documentation in the practice.

The Internal Medicine office is a bustling and dedicated practice that includes a team of doctors, advanced practice providers (APPs), behavioral health specialists, pharmacists, population health nurses and nurse care managers. Our team is committed to providing primary care for patients of all ages. We take immense pride in the strong relationships we build with our patients, their families, and our colleagues, fostering a supportive and compassionate environment.

Our support staff is composed of registered nurses (RNs), medical assistants/ambulatory clinical technicians (MA/ACTs), and patient service representatives (PSRs). Each member of our team plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our practice and the delivery of high-quality care.

About Outpatient Clinics

Corewell Health operates over 300 outpatient clinics across Michigan, bringing a multitude of care options to the communities that we serve. There are over 40 different types of primary care and specialty practices, which allows those who work in these clinics the opportunity to learn and explore various interests or to specialize in one area.

Scope of Work

As a Medical Assistant with Corewell Health, you'll be a member of our clinical support team and work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of the best possible care. You'll be a vital part of our team, making a real difference in the lives of our patients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent Required
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on, in-person clinical skills training OR a minimum of one (1) year of experience working specifically in the role of a Medical Assistant, LPN, Paramedic or EMT performing direct patient care and clinical support functions consistent with MA scope of practice Required
• 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting Preferred
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required within 90 Days
• One of the following Required within 120 Days
  • AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
  • AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
  • NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA)
  • NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
  • NAHP Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA)
