Job summary

Optum, part of the WellMed family, is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical teams and patient care under physician supervision. The role includes handling diagnostic equipment, specimen collection, EKGs, wound care, and basic patient preparation, with a focus on accuracy and patient confidentiality.

Required are a high school diploma or GED, current or soon-to-be BLS certification, and medical terminology knowledge.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Performs all duties within the scope of a Medical Assistant's practice.
• Operates diagnostic equipment and assists physicians and nursing staff.
• Prepares and sterilizes equipment; maintains infection control standards.
• Records patient care documentation accurately and timely.
• Coordinates patient care under physician guidance and company policies.
• Respects patient confidentiality and provides courteous service.
• Stocks and cleans exam/treatment rooms and ensures readiness for procedures.
• Performs screening to collect information during intake.
• Supports and follows Standard Delegation of Orders (SDO).
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
