Shift: Day Shift

As a Patient Care Tech at MercyOne, supporting the clinical staff by providing direct patient care and performing tests as assigned by the physician or clinical staff is your primary role. Responsibilities may vary by shift or clinic.

What you will do

• Perform general patient care following established standards and procedures.
• Greet and prepare patients for the healthcare provider.
• Obtain and record vital signs, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, medications, and presenting problems.
• Draw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis if required.
• Administer medications and vaccines via oral, injection, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, or inhalant routes.
• Perform routine tests such as EKGs.
• Schedule and follow up on diagnostic testing.
• Communicate test results and care plans with patients by phone or mail as directed.
• Maintain instruments and equipment, keep exam rooms stocked and clean, dispose of contaminated items properly.
• Document patient care, tests, and examination results in the medical record as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the practice manager, MA Lead, or healthcare providers.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current/valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification.
• Completion of Medication Aide 40-hour course or valid Medication Aide certification, if applicable.
• Possible specialized training such as Non-Certified Radiologic Technician (NCT).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within three months of hire.
• Mandatory Reporter abuse training completion within three months of hire.
