Job description

The Medical Assistant position is responsible for coordinating and assisting the provider to ensure safe quality/cost‑effective service and care for the people within the practice population. This position will also be responsible for providing technical clinical services and clerical support for the delivery of quality patient care as directed by licensed staff, a physician, or a mid‑level practitioner.

Location and Hours

On‑site at: Summit Rheumatology in Gilbert, AZ.

Schedule: Monday - Thursday 7am - 5pm.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Collect patient assessment data to include height, weight, vital signs, chief complaint/symptoms, and current medications for assessment by licensed staff.
  • Prepare the patient for provider evaluation by obtaining specimens, positioning for exams, listing medications, and assisting during exams and procedures.
  • Maintain work area, exam treatment, and lab in a clean, safe manner; restock with supplies as needed.
  • Assist with lab procedures by collecting urine specimens, collecting, and preparing blood samples for reference lab; labeling all specimens with accurate patient ID as ordered by the physician.
  • Document patient information in the medical record to include updated treatment procedures, medication refills, test results, and patient concerns, etc.
  • Assist and process all scripts, referrals, and authorizations as needed.
  • Manage flow of patient care, while ensuring phones are answered, and appointments are efficient.
  • Schedule patients for injections and infusions.
  • Order supplies and medications. Check both into and out of inventory.
  • Perform diagnostic testing procedures.

Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program.
  • BLS/CPR upon hire.
  • 1+ years of clinic experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current MA Certification.
  • EMR / ECW experience.
