Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on, in-person clinical skills training OR a minimum of one year of direct patient care experience.
  • Required 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting.
  • Preferred BLS Certification with a 90-day or 120-day window depending on role.
  • One of CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/NRCMA certifications within 120 days.

Responsibilities

  • Take vital signs and prepare patients for visits.
  • Administer immunizations and collect lab specimens.
  • Assist in scheduling appointments and manage in-basket work.
  • Support RNs and RTs and contribute to chart prep and calls navigation.

About the Practice Our multi-disciplinary pulmonary team is committed to providing comprehensive care for patients diagnosed with many lung conditions. We take immense pride in the strong relationships we build with our patients, their families, and our colleagues, fostering a supportive and compassionate environment. Our support staff is composed of registered nurses (RNs), medical assistants/ambulatory clinical technicians (MA/ACTs), respiratory therapists (RTs), and patient service representatives (PSRs). Each member of our team plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our practice and the delivery of high-quality care. MAs assist with patient care, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for their office visit, administering immunizations, collecting lab specimens and assisting in scheduling appointments. Time is also spent working through in basket work, chart prep, navigating incoming calls, & supporting our RN’s & RT’s. Candidates for this position should be adaptable, detail-oriented, and possess strong organizational and communication skills. MAs play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the office and providing high-quality patient care.

About Outpatient Clinics Corewell Health operates over 300 outpatient clinics across Michigan, bringing a multitude of care options to the communities that we serve. Scope of work

As a Medical Assistant with Corewell Health, you'll be a member of our clinical support team and work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of the best possible care. You'll be a vital part of our team, making a real difference in the lives of our patients.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Required Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands‑on, in‑person clinical skills training OR a minimum of one (1) year of experience working specifically in the role of a Medical Assistant, LPN, Paramedic or EMT performing direct patient care and clinical support functions consistent with MA scope of practice
  • Required 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting
  • Preferred AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Required within 90 Days
  • One of the following Required within 120 Days
  • AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
  • AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
  • NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA)
  • NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
  • NAHP Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA)
