Corewell Health's Community Medicine Clinic in Grand Rapids is hiring a Medical Assistant. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is offered for external applicants or CHW MA Apprentice students.

You will support patient intake, vital signs, rooming, and assist clinicians in examinations and procedures in a busy outpatient setting. We value teamwork, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program or at least 1 year of direct patient care in MA/LPN/EMT roles.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting.
  • Preferred BLS/CPR certification (AHA or ARC).
  • Within 90–120 days, CMA/AMT/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/NAHP CMA certifications may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient care including taking vital signs and preparing patients for examinations.
  • Assist physicians and APPs during procedures and in exam rooms.
  • Support clinic operations and patient service workflows.

Practice Overview

The Community Medicine Clinic is in the heart of downtown and we serve the community, we have dedicated Physicians and APP’s that are committed to providing comprehensive care for our patients. We are a safe and affirming clinic, we take immense pride in the strong relationships we build with our patients, their families, and our colleagues, fostering a supportive and compassionate environment. We have so many resources in the building for patients, pharmacist, community health workers, population health nurse, RN case managers, nurse triage, physical therapy, and behavior health services. We also have a food and clothing pantry for our patients that have any social determinate needs that keep them from focusing on their health. We offer lab services to our established patients at the clinic. Our support staff is composed of registered nurses (RNs), medical assistants/ambulatory clinical technicians (MA/ACTs), ambulatory clinical clerical technicians (ACCTs), and patient service representatives (PSRs). Each member of our team plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our practice and the delivery of high-quality care. MAs assist with patient care, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and assisting in procedures. Candidates for this position should be adaptable, detail-oriented, and possess strong organizational and communication skills. They play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the office and providing high-quality patient care.

Scope of work

As a Medical Assistant with Corewell Health, you'll be a member of our clinical support team and work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of the best possible care. You'll be a vital part of our team, making a real difference in the lives of our patients.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on, in-person clinical skills training OR a minimum of one (1) year of experience working specifically in the role of a Medical Assistant, LPN, Paramedic or EMT performing direct patient care and clinical support functions consistent with MA scope of practice
  • Required 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting
  • Preferred AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Required within 90 Days One of the following
  • Required within 120 Days AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA) NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) NAHP Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA)
