Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant to support examination coordination, take vital signs, document in EHR, and assist with procedures under provider supervision in a busy clinic.

This role may require travel between AHN physician offices. A High School diploma or Medical Assistant program and certification within 120 days are required; CPR and background checks may be needed.

Qualifications

• High School / GED or completion of a Medical Assistant program.
• Certification requirement: complete certification within 120 days of hire with accepted certs (NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA).

Responsibilities

• Using a team-based approach, coordinate patient care under supervision of the health care provider.
• Prepare and room patients per standardized workflows; obtain vitals, document patient history and screening info.
• Review and update medication lists in the EHR; pend orders for screenings, prescriptions, or refills per AHN protocols.
• Perform back office testing and assist providers with examinations and procedures.
• May serve as a scribe with additional training and provide follow-up with patients via preferred communication method.
