Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care under the supervision of providers. The role includes preparing patients, performing routine procedures, and maintaining accurate documentation in the EHR.

The ideal candidate will have a Medical Assistant program background, be ready to obtain certification within 120 days, and may be asked to travel between AHN locations as needed. CPR certification is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High School / GED or Completion of a Medical Assistant Program.
• Certification within 120 days of hire; grads within five years must complete certification within 30 days.
• Accepted Medical Assistant Certification (NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA).
• Preferred: Associate's Degree

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care under supervision of the health care provider.
• Prepare and room patients per standardized workflows.
• Accurately obtain patient vital signs and document information.
• Review and update medication lists in the EHR.
• Administer and document medications per policy and safe practice.
• May serve as a scribe with additional training.
• Provide follow up with patients per provider instructions.
• May require floating between physician office locations.
