Job summary

Allina Health Forest Lake Clinic is hiring a Medical Assistant for primary care on a 0.9 FTE schedule (72 hours per two-week pay period). The role supports providers and nursing staff, handles rooming, patient flow, specimen handling, and EMR documentation.

Shifts are day hours with 8- or 12-hour days, no weekend work, and there is a $2,000 starting bonus for eligible external talent. Mileage reimbursement and benefit eligibility are available.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required principle competencies as listed on the job description.
• Candidates must have completed a Medical Assistant program or a comparable healthcare education program with a similar scope of clinical training.
• Candidates with fewer than six (6) months of Medical Assistant experience must have completed a minimum of 160 hours of clinical externship or equivalent clinical practicum.

Responsibilities

• Rooms patients, manages patient flow and obtains adequate patient medical information/data.
• Collects and confirms patient information via interview, questionnaires, vital signs and documents in EMR.
• Assists patients to prepare for physician exam and provides psycho-emotional support.
• Assists with collection, labeling and processing of specimens.
• Facilitates obtaining lab/imaging results and communicates results to provider/RN.
• Performs injections and assists with procedures as delegated by Provider or RN.
• Coordinates test results with provider or RN.
• May assist with patient transportation and front desk coverage.

Education

Medical Assistant program (or comparable healthcare education program)

High school diploma or GED
