Office Hours: Mon-Th 7am-5pm and Fri 7am-12pm.

The salary range for this position is $18.12-$27.76, based on experience.

The Medical Assistant will assist physicians with various aspects of patient care, including clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks, to ensure patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities

1. Assist patients by accompanying them to exam/procedure rooms, helping with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, and preparing for exams.
2. Collect patient information and history, take vitals, and perform screenings as per provider guidelines.
3. Relay instructions to patients and families.
4. Send and receive patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
5. Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.
6. Complete forms and requisitions as needed.
7. Prepare and manage charts, ensuring information is completed and filed properly.
8. Schedule appointments and verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
9. Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to protocol.
10. Clean exam rooms and equipment between visits to maintain infection control.
11. Manage inventory of supplies and restock exam/procedure rooms.
12. Organize patient flow and check schedules.
13. Answer calls, provide pertinent information, and educate patients as directed.
14. Perform clinic procedures such as phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs.
15. Assist physicians with procedures.
16. Comply with OSHA, CLIA, and state health regulations; maintain confidentiality and follow UPMC policies.
17. Administer injectable medications and vaccines under physician supervision when appropriate.
18. Perform other front office responsibilities as required.
19. Adhere to system-wide competencies and behaviors.
20. Perform other duties as assigned.
