Job summary

Patient First in Texas seeks a Patient Care Assistant to support physicians and nurses. You will locate patients, take vital signs, triage, and prepare for exams, while using the EMR system and assisting with orders for labs and X-rays.

The role requires at least a high school diploma, 1 year of clinical experience, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and CPR classes may be needed. This is an on-site, full-time position with shift variability.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of clinical experience in a hospital or physician’s office preferred.
• Ability to hear pages, bells, and phone system.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time (4–7 hours).
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Attend scheduled CPR classes and code drills.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Willingness to work at any center due to staffing needs.

Responsibilities

• Locate patients and obtain accurate vital signs; triage and prepare for exams.
• Use the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Order lab, x-ray, and medical supplies as directed.
• Notify Nurse/Physician when patient is ready for exam; relay symptoms and questions.
• Assist Nurses and Physicians with patient care and treatment.
• Maintain cleanliness and restock treatment rooms; sterilize equipment.
• Report to Charge Nurse at end of shift.
• Attend staff meetings as scheduled.
