The purpose of a Medical Assistant at Oak Street Health is to gather all necessary medical information regarding our patients to ensure providers have the most accurate information available when making healthcare decisions. Medical Assistants (MA) report to the Practice Manager or Center Operations Specialist and are vital members of our Care Teams. Being an MA at Oak Street Health requires flexibility, energy, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills. You will build relationships with Oak Street Health members and collaborate with teammates to ensure an excellent patient experience while driving clinical results.

Responsibilities include:

1. Ensuring efficient patient flow; room patients promptly, complete vital signs, screenings, and medication reviews.
2. Inventory management and stocking exam rooms.
3. Responding to patient requests for telephonic support, such as lab results and record faxing.
4. Administering vaccinations and performing point-of-care tests like A1C, spirometry, EKGs, and blood draws, in accordance with state regulations.
5. Document management via EMR, including scanning and PDF uploads.
6. Participating in care team meetings and processing orders for medical equipment.
7. Requesting medical records from external providers.
8. Conducting routine quality control and infection control measures, and maintaining lab supplies.
9. Performing other duties as assigned.
