For a limited time, MaineHealth is offering sign-on bonuses for Medical Assistants:

  • $4,000 for 0-1 years of experience (full-time)
  • $5,000 for 1+ years of experience (full-time)

Eligibility details:

  • Hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part-time MA position. Bonus prorated for Part-time; per diem hires are ineligible.
  • Current MaineHealth employees are ineligible; former employees are ineligible until more than 6 months of separation.

Summary:
The Medical Assistant (MA) supports patient care and administrative duties in a team-based environment, ensuring smooth patient flow. The MA operates under the supervision of a physician or advanced practice practitioner when performing clinical and patient care responsibilities.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  1. Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following:
    1. Graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience, or
    2. Completed an Adult Education Medical Assistant program with 6 months of clinical experience, or
    3. One year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (equivalent experience evaluated case-by-case).
  2. License/Certifications: Current certification from AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT preferred or obtained within 1 year of eligibility. Current BLS certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of start date. For positions in New Hampshire, NH Med Tech License or NH EMT/National Registry EMT license is required.
  3. Experience: Relevant Medical Assistant experience preferred.
  4. Additional Skills/Requirements: Not applicable.
