  • For a limited time, MaineHealth is offering sign-on bonuses for Medical Assistants:

  • 0-1 years of experience eligible for $4,000 (full time)
  • 1+ years of experience eligible for $5,000 (full time)
  • Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part-time MA position. Bonus amount prorated for Part-time hires; per diem hires are ineligible.
  • Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth members are ineligible until more than 6 months of separation from employment.

The Medical Assistant position supports a busy team of six pediatricians, caring for children from newborn to 20 years old. Primary responsibilities are clinical, with some administrative work integrated daily. Patience, compassion, and the ability to work well with patients and families are essential.

We are open 7 days a week, including a pediatric weekend clinic, offering flexibility in hours and days worked.

Summary:

The Medical Assistant II role involves patient care and administrative support within a team-based environment, ensuring smooth patient flow. The role operates under the license of the supervising physician or advanced practice provider when performing clinical duties.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  1. Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following: graduation from an accredited vocational school or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience; completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program with 6 months of clinical experience; or 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice (evaluated case-by-case).
  2. License/Certifications: Current certification from AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT preferred or achieved within one year. Current BLS certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of start date. For positions in New Hampshire, NH Med Tech License or NH EMT/National Registry EMT license is required.
  3. Experience: At least 6 months of clinical experience with certification or 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
  4. Additional Skills/Requirements: None specified.
