Bring your passion for patient care as a Medical Assistant in Peds Ortho. Our Health Center is a busy, fast-paced environment where hundreds of patients visit us each day. We are looking for someone focused on patients as the number one goal and also a team player. A smile and greeting go a long way in this position as you are the first impression.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Rooming patients, removing casts (training provided), processing outgoing referrals, and other administrative tasks to keep the clinic flowing. You will be working alongside 3 Pediatric Surgeons, 3 Physician Assistants, and 3 other MAs.

Hours/Shift: Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm.

Location: 1432 S. Dobson Rd., Ste 304, Mesa AZ 85202

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for assisting clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care, as well as implementing and evaluating direct patient care. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide an excellent patient experience.

CORE FUNCTIONS:

  1. Prepares patients for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms, and other necessary measurements; documents pain scores as appropriate. Reports changes in the patient's condition to the clinician.
  2. Assists providers with exams and minor in-office procedures, including taking patients’ blood pressure, documenting respiration and heart rate/pulse, taking temperature, performing phlebotomies, ear irrigation, and EKGs. Acts as chaperon as needed.
  3. Coordinates and manages patient care including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions, and scheduling of patients for clinic, hospital, and other ancillary medical treatments and tests.
  4. Provides clerical support with patient/client notifications and documentation, ensuring complete and accurate information necessary for billing related to the patient encounter.
  5. Maintains a clean, functional environment including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms, and storage areas.
  6. Orders supplies as directed, stocks patient care areas, and manages medication ordering and tasks related to all medications.
  7. Develops and maintains effective communication mechanisms with all external and internal customers.
  8. Completes all necessary onboarding/orientation activities, including simulation training, as needed or directed.
  9. Works under the direct supervision of the providers, interacting with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
  2. Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.
  3. Active Medical Assistant Certification is required.
  4. BLS certification required.
  5. Requires strong computer skills, including the ability to work with medical software.
  6. Requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Employees working in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Experience with office medical procedures and treatments and knowledge of insurance, managed care operations, EMR, and scheduling software preferred.
  2. Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
