Job description

Position Summary

Medical Assistant for multi‑specialty practice. This position is to function as a member of both the clinical and administrative team and complete all assigned daily tasks to ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations.

Responsibilities

• Work close with providers to assist in delivering world‑class care to patients.
• Prepare rooms and patients for provider visits, including taking vital signs and entering data into EMR.
• Record patient history, chief complaint, pharmacy information, and prescription lists into EMR.
• Obtain required consents and complete required forms for specific visit types.
• Perform in‑office testing, including controls, EKGs, point‑of‑care testing, and cytology setup.
• Administer vaccines and medications as ordered by provider following SMG policies.
• Chaperone providers as required.
• Stock rooms and monitor expiration of supplies.
• Assist with clinic intake, scheduling, prior authorizations, and continuous glucose monitoring setup and data upload.
• Register patients in EMR, verify demographics and insurance details, and conduct eligibility checks.
• Schedule appointments and appropriate testing, following scheduling rules and directing patient visit.
• Perform pre‑visit planning for all upcoming scheduled appointments.
• Conduct outreach to select patient groups and schedule specialty appointments and testing as directed.
• Inform manager of clinical or administrative supply needs and assist with ordering.
• Obtain prior authorizations and/or insurance referrals as per practice needs.
• Work independently with little supervision while adhering to SEMC policies and ensuring patient confidentiality.
• Perform all other duties as requested.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required. Education from an approved medical assistant program or equivalent preferred.
• One to three years of experience as a medical assistant preferred.
• Strong customer service orientation, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with EMR required; Athena preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred.

Compensation

Salary range: $17.79 – $25.00 hourly.
