Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to deliver patient care under supervision across our Michigan network. Responsibilities include assisting in examinations, collecting histories, preparing rooms and equipment, and documenting interventions in the EMR.

The role requires a high school diploma and relevant MA/tech training, with additional programs preferred. BLS within 6 months for Rural Health sites; travel may be required for float positions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and six months experience as a Medical Assistant or Patient Care Tech.
• Completion of one of the following programs: medical assistant, EMT, nurse assistant, LPN, armed services medic, or patient care technician.
• For Rural Health clinics, BLS certification within 6 months of hire.
• Float positions may require travel between clinics.
• Electronic medical record experience.
• One-year experience in a medical office with multiple providers.
• Experience in a medical office of the same specialty.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, perform or assist in medical procedures and tests to aid examination and treatment.
• Assist with clerical duties to maintain efficient operations.
• Prepare examining rooms and stock supplies; organize forms for visits.
• Collaborate with providers to collect history, prepare equipment, document interventions.
• Administer EKGs, PFTs, immunizations, and blood draws as directed; manage prescriptions and lab slips.
