Job summary

The candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent and six months of relevant experience or completion of an approved medical assistant/EMT/nurse aide program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and six months of Medical Assistant or Patient Care Tech experience.
• Completion of one of the following programs: medical assistant, EMT, nurse assistant, LPN, armed services medic, or patient care technician.
• For Rural Health clinics, Basic Life Support (BLS) within 6 months of hire.
• For positions designated as float, travel to or between clinics is required.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
• Electronic medical record experience preferred.
• One year experience in a medical office with multiple providers preferred.
• Experience in a medical office of the same specialty preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs to service excellence standards and responds promptly to customers’ needs.
• Cooperates and communicates effectively with patients, families, and staff.
• Maintains clean and stocked exam rooms and prepares equipment.
• Assists with patient history, visits, and necessary supplies.
• Documents interventions, vital signs, and medications in charts or EMR.
• Administers EKGs, PFTs, immunizations, and venipuncture as directed.
• Completes lab slips and referrals as directed.
• Assists with gynecological exams and routine procedures.
