Responsibilities

• Serve as a patient advocate during patient exam and treatment.
• Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight and height.
• Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
• Record patients' medical history, medications, allergies, vitals and test results.
• Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
• Collect blood, tissue or other lab specimens and prepare them for testing.
• Explain treatment procedures and physician's instructions to patients.
• Assist physicians with procedures and injections.
• Prepare treatment rooms and maintain sterile field.
• Assist with surgical procedures while maintaining sterile field.
• Notify physician and RN of any distress and monitor patient condition.
• Inventory and order supplies and ensure equipment is in working order.
• Perform routine laboratory tests and document procedures.
