Job summary

Urology Austin is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient flow and assist with care under direct supervision. You will help with rooming patients, collecting data, and coordinating records for physicians and nurses.

The role requires a high school diploma and medical assistant certification, with preferred phlebotomy experience and strong communication skills. This on-site position offers a comprehensive benefits package and a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Certification of graduation from an accredited program for medical assistant is required.
  • Preferred experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Display excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to exam/treatment rooms as appropriate.
  • Record patient data before each visit, including vitals, allergies and medications.
  • Obtain all necessary records for the patient as required by the physician.
  • Ensure appropriate consent is obtained prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepare stocks for exam rooms, order supplies, and manage sample medications.
  • Assist physicians/APPs with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Obtain blood specimens following OSHA standards and universal precautions.
  • Perform lab procedures and processing of lab specimens as needed.
  • Follow disinfection protocols to keep exam rooms clean.
  • Practice Standard Precautions and proper biohazard disposal.
  • Assist with chart audits and retrieve requested authorizations and records.
  • Obtain new patient records and prior test results, x-rays, scans, etc.
  • Maintain a clean work environment and restock supplies as needed.
  • Assist other staff and physicians as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.
