Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a Medical Assistant to support patient care under provider supervision. Duties include preparing exam rooms, taking vital signs, documenting patient history, screening medications, and assisting with procedures.

Minimum requirements include a High School diploma or MA program completion; certification within 120 days of hire; CPR; and a preferred Associate’s degree. Occasional travel between AHN locations may be required.

Qualifications

• High School / GED or completion of a Medical Assistant program.
• Certification within 120 days after hire; valid programs include NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA.
• Associate’s Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care under supervision of the provider using a team-based approach.
• Prepare and room patients; obtain vital signs and document history and medication screening.
• Perform back-office testing per AHN protocols; assist with exams and procedures.
• May serve as a scribe with additional training and provide follow-up per provider instructions.
• Prepare exam rooms and maintain inventory; keep areas stocked and clean; ensure instrument sterilization.
• Document in the EHR and perform clerical duties; may travel between locations.
