Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care in our Charlotte clinics. You will perform rooming tasks, vital signs, history taking, and health maintenance while assisting providers with procedures and lab activities.

You will administer medications and vaccines, manage referrals, scheduling, and patient messaging, and ensure a clean, well-stocked work environment. Prior MA training or completion of an accredited program is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or structured military training in lieu of a formal program or EMT.
• Military training (DD214) may be accepted in lieu of formal MA program.

Responsibilities

• Room patients for visits and collect vitals, med reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, and screenings.
• Assist providers with procedures as ordered.
• Perform venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, and lab order preparation; conduct CLIA-waived tests as applicable.
• Administer medications and vaccines following the rights of administration.
• Handle referrals, insurance authorizations, scheduling, and patient messaging.
• Maintain clean, stocked work areas and ensure equipment is in good working order.
• Demonstrate age-appropriate care and effective communication with patients and families.
