Job summary

NYU Grossman School of Medicine in Manhattan, Chelsea, is seeking a Medical Assistant (FGP) to support physicians and nurses, prepare rooms, collect specimens, and handle scheduling and data entry. The position emphasizes accurate patient identification and vital signs, with EMR documentation and HIPAA compliance.

The role requires strong teamwork, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering a positive patient experience, with opportunities to use Epic EMR and MyChart in daily workflows.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Current Medical Assistant certification from a nationally recognized body preferred on hire.
• Working knowledge of English; additional languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patients to exam rooms.
• Cleans and stocks exam rooms.
• Measures and records patient vital signs.
• Obtains and processes blood samples per policy.
• Assists with documentation in the EMR and patient care workflows.
• Supports patient experience and coordinates with providers and staff.
• Answers phone calls and manages inbasket messages.
• Transcribes visit details and assists with referrals as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
