Job summary

Ohio State University Physicians is hiring Medical Assistants to support direct patient care across outpatient settings. The role involves rooming patients, taking vital signs, and preparing patients for examinations and tests, following established protocols.

You will assist in procedures, collect samples for routine labs, and prepare treatment rooms while upholding patient comfort and safety. A Medical Assistant program diploma or equivalent, plus relevant experience, is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent along with at least one of the following.
• Diploma from a Medical Assistant Program OR
• Minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience OR
• Military Medic training OR
• EMT-P (Paramedic) training OR
• Equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education

Responsibilities

• Room patients, measure and record vital signs.
• Complete patient interview and history.
• Prepare patients for examinations, tests and treatments and explain procedures. Assists with procedures as ordered by physician.
• May assist in examinations, carry out treatments and special tests.
• Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms for patients.
• Collect samples such as blood, urine and sputum from patients, and perform routine laboratory tests on samples.
