Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or may have completed structured military training which is clinical in nature per DD214 in lieu of a formal medical assistant program or EMT.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks: vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings.
• Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties including venipuncture, specimen handling, POCT, CLIA waived tests, and point-of-care testing.
• Administrates medications and vaccines following the rights of medication administration.
• Handles referrals, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals.
• Cross trained to support specialty or clinic within MA scope.
• Demonstrates effective communication, teamwork, and escalation as needed.
• Maintains clean work environment and ensures equipment and supplies are stocked.
• Provides age-appropriate care and communicates effectively with patients across life spans.
