Job summary

South Texas Health System Clinics is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians with patient examinations, vital signs, venipuncture, and basic procedures within IPM clinics. The role includes front-desk coverage and EMR documentation in IPM guidelines.

The ideal candidate has an accredited Medical Assistant program, current BLS/CPR certification, and familiarity with medical terminology. On-site position with comprehensive benefits and team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
• Current BLS/CPR certification required.
• Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Familiarity with medical terminology required.
• Experience with patient check-in and check-out process (according to clinic protocol).

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily clerical operations, including answering multi-phone lines and making copies of documents as necessary.
• Accurately files patient charts; including scanning documents into files as necessary.
• Schedules patient appointments as necessary, return visits and Specialists.
• Pre-authorize prescriptions and clinical tests (CT, MRI, Ultrasound, etc.) as necessary.
• Other Duties as assigned.
