Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 0–1 years related work experience required.
• MA, EMT, CNA, LNA certificate or diploma; or at least 5 months of direct patient care experience in a clinical or research setting.

Responsibilities

• Performs medical assisting duties including vital signs, height/weight, EKGs, phlebotomy and assistance during procedures; ensures patient care areas are clean, stocked, and ready for use.
• Performs point of care testing and specimen collection; implements quality control; provides patients with test instructions.
• Monitors and maintains medical equipment and supplies, ensuring cleanliness, sterility, stock, and valid expiration dates.
• Reviews medication lists in the EMR for final review by licensed practitioners; may handle schedule VI and OTC meds under supervision.
• Uses EMR to queue prescription renewals and enter orders; documents tasks in EMR for billing.
• Prepares schedules, patient charts and other documents for clinical activities; procures medical correspondence as directed.
• Monitors patient flow and acts as liaison between patient and staff to ensure timely service; manages waiting room materials and may answer calls.
