Job summary

Patient First in Kentucky seeks a patient support role to locate patients, obtain vital signs, triage, and prepare patients for exams by physicians and nurses. You will use the electronic medical record system, order labs and supplies as directed, and assist nursing staff throughout exams.

The role requires ability to hear pages, sit/stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, CPR readiness, multitasking, teamwork, and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of clinical experience in a hospital or physician’s office preferred.
• Ability to hear pages, bells, and phone system.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to attend scheduled CPR classes and code drills.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Willingness to work at any center due to staffing or center emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Locate patients, obtain accurate vital signs by visual and auditory measures, triage patients.
• Understand and use the electronic medical record system.
• Order lab, x-ray, and medical supplies as directed.
• Notify the Nurse or Physician when the patient is ready for exam and relay questions about lab or x-ray needs.
• Assist Nurses and Physicians with various forms of patient treatment and care.
• Handle Physician and Nurse requests with respect and in a timely manner.
• Perform lab duties as assigned.
• Sterilize and set up instruments.
• Receive and store supplies; restock treatment rooms as needed.
• Report to the Charge Nurse before leaving at the end of the shift.
• Follow ancillary guidelines as deemed necessary by leadership.
• Adhere to established policies and procedures.
