Job summary

HealthPartners in Kentucky is seeking a Medical Office Assistant to perform a variety of clerical tasks with direct patient contact, supporting the assigned medical department to deliver outstanding care. You will screen calls, schedule routine appointments, handle prescriptions under clinician direction, maintain records, assist nursing staff, and ensure accurate communications and proper filing.

Candidates should have completed an approved medical assisting program or equivalent experience,

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an approved medical assisting or medical office assisting program or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
  • Basic computer/keyboard skills required.
  • Strong verbal communication, telephone etiquette, and handwriting skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy also required.

Responsibilities

  • Screens and directs calls; relay messages to clinicians, patients, and facilities.
  • Monitors the Message Center; address urgent messages within 2 hours, routine in 4 hours.
  • Schedules routine appointments, consultations, and tests as requested.
  • Receives and responds to prescription requests under clinician direction.
  • Prepares routine medical and non-medical correspondence and reports.
  • Orders appropriate patient charts for clinician review.
  • Supports nursing staff; assist with exam rooms and supplies.
  • Maintains departmental records, files and logs.
  • Performs quality checks on equipment such as autoclaves.
  • Obtains answers to routine questions and inquiries.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
