Job summary

LMH Health in Lawrence, KS seeks a Medical Assistant to support physicians and healthcare teams. You will update records, take histories, document vital signs, and help prepare patients for exams while ensuring privacy and safety.

You will handle scheduling, lab specimen processing, basic patient teaching, and help maintain clean, organized exam rooms. The role requires completion of a MA program or related training and current BLS certification; on-the-job skill development and community impact

Qualifications

• Current or previous Kansas CNA; OR enrolled in Medical Assistant program; OR active Kansas EMT.
• Nursing student who completed first semester with skills checklist within 90 days.
• Completed or enrolled in pre-med/pre-dentistry or related program with 90-day skills checklist.

Responsibilities

• Updates and files patient records and handles insurance forms as needed.
• Takes medical histories and records vital signs; documents in electronic forms.
• Explains procedures and prepares patient for examination with privacy.
• Collects lab specimens, disposes of supplies and sterilizes instruments.
• Assists with wound and cast care, schedules appointments, and coordinates tests.
• Assists with patient teaching on procedures, tests, and medications.
• Maintains smooth clinic flow and handles callbacks for patient care.
• Authorizes refills as directed and communicates with pharmacies; ensures room readiness.
• Ensures safety and compliance with patient information regulations.
