Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians, nurses, and staff by ensuring efficient patient flow, preparing exam rooms, and assisting with basic procedures in our Chicago-area clinics.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, certification eligibility within six months, BLS/CPR, and 0–2 years of relevant experience; strong computer skills are preferred, and ongoing training and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification eligibility within six months for CMA/RMA/NCMA/CCMA/NRCMA.
• American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification.
• Zero to two years of experience in a relevant role.

Responsibilities

• Ensures efficient patient flow through the site; escorts patient, obtains vitals, updates records, and communicates changes to providers.
• Assists practitioners with ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, and CLIA-waived testing as directed.
• Prepares and stocks exam rooms; maintains inventory and equipment; follows safety and infection control protocols.
• Interacts with patients and care team to support timely, high-quality care.
• Performs delegated procedures safely and efficiently per specialty addendum.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
