Job summary

CLS Health in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant for a Pain Management practice. You will support clinicians by rooming patients, updating medical histories, taking vitals, and preparing charts and referrals to ensure safe, effective care.

The ideal candidate is bilingual (English/Spanish), with excellent communication, multitasking ability, and familiarity with medical terminology and insurance billing.

Qualifications

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant by a national body or graduate of an approved MA program.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
• Experience in a medical office or customer service preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Room the patient.
• Interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
• Prepare patient charts a week in advance and verify benefits reports.
• Prepare patient charts a week in advance.
• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Ensure rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at end of day.
• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.
• Ensure physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient's chart.
• Assist the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation.
• Educate and inform the patient of DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.
• Schedule patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.
• Obtain authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
• Main fax line– Distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s).
• Performs related duties as required.

We Are Looking For

Requirements

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program
• Must be Bilingual (English/Spanish)
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
