Portneuf Medical Center is seeking a day shift, full-time Medical Assistant (CMA) for its Cardiology Clinic in Pocatello, ID. You will provide superior patient care and support clinic operations under physician and APP supervision.

The role requires EMR proficiency, basic MS Office skills, and BLS certification within 14 days of start. Preferred candidates hold an Associate's degree or CMA/RMA certification and clinic experience.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Associate's degree.
  • Graduate from an accredited medical assistant program.
  • Prior clinic or hospital experience supporting patient care.
  • Current national CMA or RMA certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care and administrative support in a clinic-based setting under physician/APP supervision.
  • Enters, maintains, and reports medical history and claims in EMR.
  • Assists with patient visits, including vitals and rooming.
  • Prepares exam rooms, sterilizes instruments, and maintains hygiene and privacy.
  • Manages inventory and supplies for exam rooms.
  • Handles referrals and authorizations; communicates with pharmacies, hospitals, and labs.

Responsibilities
  • The Medical Assistant provides superior patient care and performs administrative and delegated clinical tasks that support patients in a clinic-based environment as part of a care team led by the physician and/or advanced practice provider.
  • Enters, maintains, and reports all medical history, medical coding, and files claims using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Patient visit support that may include: Greeting patients and escorting patient to exam room and/or taking patients' vital signs and other applicable medical information to effectively support the reason for the patients visit and recommended treatment.
  • Sterilizes and prepares medical instruments. Ensures patient exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready for incoming patients. Provides patients with privacy, comfort, safety and hygiene.
  • Assists in maintaining inventory and stocking supplies, instruments and equipment for all exam rooms.
  • Maintains appropriate paperwork for inventory control and reviews orders received for completeness.
  • Addresses and requests referrals and other insurance authorizations in addition to passing along patient information for prescription, x-ray or lab requisitions to necessary parties. This includes calls to pharmacies, hospitals, and labs.
Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Microsoft Office knowledge.
  • BLS Certification required within 14 days of start.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Associate's degree.
  • Graduate from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist school/program.
  • Prior experience in a clinic or hospital setting supporting patient care
  • Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
