Job summary

Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, ID is seeking a day shift, full-time Cardiology Clinic Medical Assistant (CMA) to join a patient-centered care team.

You will perform clinical and administrative tasks in a fast-paced clinic, maintain EMR documentation, support referrals, manage supplies, and help ensure accurate vital signs and patient flow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Basic EMR and Microsoft Office knowledge.
• BLS Certification required within 14 days of start.

Responsibilities

• The Medical Assistant provides superior patient care and performs administrative and delegated clinical tasks that support patients in a clinic-based environment as part of a care team led by the physician and/or advanced practice provider.
• Enters, maintains, and reports all medical history, medical coding, and files claims using an EMR.
• Patient visit support that may include: Greeting patients and escorting patient to exam room and/or taking patients’ vital signs and other applicable medical information to effectively support the reason for the patients visit and recommended treatment.
• Sterilizes and prepares medical instruments. Ensures patient exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready for incoming patients. Provides patients with privacy, comfort, safety and hygiene.
• Assists in maintaining inventory and stocking supplies, instruments and equipment for all exam rooms.
• Maintains appropriate paperwork for inventory control and reviews orders received for completeness.
• Addresses and requests referrals and other insurance authorizations in addition to passing along patient information for prescription, x-ray or lab requisitions to necessary parties. This includes calls to pharmacies, hospitals, and labs.

Preferred Job Requirements

• Associate’s degree.
• Graduate from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist school/program.
• Prior experience in a clinic or hospital setting supporting patient care
• Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
