Job summary

Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, ID, is hiring a day shift, full-time Medical Assistant (CMA) to support physicians in a busy clinic. You will perform administrative tasks and clinical duties under the supervision of the physician or advanced practice provider.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, basic EMR and Microsoft Office skills, and must obtain BLS certification within 14 days of hire. Prior clinic or hospital experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Microsoft Office knowledge.
• BLS Certification required within 14 days of start.

Responsibilities

• The Medical Assistant provides superior patient care and performs administrative and delegated clinical tasks that support patients in a clinic-based environment as part of a care team led by the physician and/or advanced practice provider.
• Enters, maintains, and reports all medical history, medical coding, and files claims using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Patient visit support that may include: Greeting patients and escorting patient to exam room and/or taking patients’ vital signs and other applicable medical information to effectively support the reason for the patients visit and recommended treatment.
• Sterilizes and prepares medical instruments. Ensures patient exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready for incoming patients. Provides patients with privacy, comfort, safety and hygiene.
• Assists in maintaining inventory and stocking supplies, instruments and equipment for all exam rooms.
• Maintains appropriate paperwork for inventory control and reviews orders received for completeness.
• Addresses and requests referrals and other insurance authorizations in addition to passing along patient information for prescription, x-ray or lab requisitions to necessary parties. This includes calls to pharmacies, hospitals, and labs.
