Job summary

CLS Health in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to support multispecialty care in a physician-led team. You will room patients, take vitals, update medical histories, and assist physicians in the exam room to ensure efficient, high-quality care.

You should have CMA or RMA certification, 2+ years of experience, and strong communication skills. Bilingual abilities and proficiency with office software are a plus for coordinating referrals and appointments.

Qualifications

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation.
• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
• Bilingual communication skills are a plus.
• Experience in medical office or customer service preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Schedule appointments and document calls, messages, and referrals.
• Ensure rooms are stocked, cleaned, and ready for patients.
• Ensure physician is in-network and referrals are current.
• Assist physician with wound care and procedures.
• Follow up on calls and document conversations.
• Educate patients on DI, labs, referrals, and procedures.
• Schedule follow-up appointments after visits.
• Obtain authorization before orders when needed.
• Perform related duties as required.

We are Looking for:

Someone who is an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty medical practice. The medical assistant should perform a supportive role in delivering comprehensive care to the patient that is safe, effective, and efficient.

Responsibilities:

• Rooming the patient
• Interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.
• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Makes sure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day.
• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.
• Ensures that physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient's chart.
• Assist the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation
• Educates and informs the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.
• Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.
• Obtains authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
• Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program
• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant preferred
• Bilingual
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred
