Qualifications

• Availability: Must be available and willing to work at least 16 hours per week.
• Education & Certification: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program. CMA or RMA credential preferred.
• Basic Life Support: Active CPR / BLS certification required (or willingness to obtain prior to start date).
• Clinical Experience: 1+ years of outpatient clinic or medical office experience preferred, though motivated graduates with strong clinical externship experience are encouraged to apply.
• Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms (Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth) and basic computer literacy.
• Interpersonal Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, empathy, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Patient Rooming & Intake: Greet patients, take vitals, document chief complaints, update medication lists in the EHR.
• Clinical Support: Prepare exam rooms, sanitize equipment, stock supplies, assist providers during exams.
• Lab & Diagnostic Help: Collect basic lab specimens and record results in charts.
• Patient & Administrative Communication: Follow-up calls, communicate results, process prescription refills, handle paperwork.
• Clinic Compliance: Follow safety guidelines, OSHA, infection control, and HIPAA.

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable, patient-centered Part-Time Medical Assistant to join our dedicated clinical operations team in Oakbrook Terrace, IL. In this role, you will work closely alongside physicians, nurse practitioners, and administrative staff to deliver high-quality outpatient care. You will be an integral part of a collaborative, fast-paced practice where clear communication, clinical accuracy, and patient comfort are our top priorities.

What You'll Do

• Patient Rooming & Intake: Greet patients, take and record accurate vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height/weight), document chief complaints, and update medication lists in the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.
• Clinical Support: Prepare exam rooms before visits, sanitize equipment between appointments, keep clinical supplies fully stocked, and assist healthcare providers during routine examinations and minor clinical procedures.
• Lab & Diagnostic Assistance: Collect and prepare basic lab specimens (e.g., blood draws, urine samples) following proper safety protocols, and record results accurately in patient charts.
• Patient & Administrative Communication: Manage patient follow-up calls, communicate test results under provider direction, process routine prescription refill requests, and handle rooming paperwork.
• Clinic Compliance: Maintain strict compliance with safety guidelines, OSHA standards, infection control protocols, and HIPAA regulations.
