Job summary

BJC HealthCare is seeking a compassionate Non-Registered Medical Assistant for the Sullivan area clinic. You will support providers, prepare patients for examinations, and document vital signs and histories to ensure a smooth patient flow.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant or equivalent credential preferred.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Experience in patient care is optional but beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, prepares and stocks supplies in exam rooms.
• Obtains vital signs, patient history and maintains charting.
• Performs clinical skills such as phlebotomy, EKGs, POCT and injections.
• Triage calls, provide test results to patients with correct terminology.
• Assist providers with exams, procedures and treatments.

What You'll Do

• Room patients and prepare them for examinations
• Obtain and document vital signs and medical histories
• Assist providers with patient care and clinical procedures
• Administer medications, injections, and treatments as directed
• Manage patient communications, including phone calls and electronic messages
• Support scheduling, referrals, and prior authorizations
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure excellent customer service

Overview

Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital is a designated critical access hospital committed to providing quality health care service to residents in Crawford, Franklin and Washington counties.

The hospital has enhanced and expanded the health care services available to the greater Sullivan community with its state-of-the-art emergency department, modern childbirth center, critical care unit, multiroom surgical suite, expanded cardiac rehab services, and a cancer center. A 22,500 square-foot medical office building provides offices for primary care physicians as well as space for a variety of visiting medical and surgical specialists from the St. Louis area.

Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital operates four rural health clinics providing quality health care to surrounding communities. In addition, the hospital operates a comprehensive Therapy and Rehabilitation department and an award-winning Wound Care Center with two hyperbaric chambers.

The Sullivan medical clinic is a well-established, multi-discipline physician group providing family, internal and OB care.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

The Medical Assistant (MA) provides patient care under the direction of a physician or other licensed provider. This position performs select duties for the promotion of health in the care of patients and delivers care according to practice protocols and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, prepares and stocks supplies in exam rooms.
• Obtains vital signs, patient history and maintains accurate and prompt charting in the patient's record.
• Performs clinical skills, such as phlebotomy, electrocardiography (EKGs), point-of-care testing and injections.
• Triage calls, provide test and lab results to patients and present relevant information to provider with correct medical terminology.
• Assists provider by preparing patients for exams, procedures and treatments.
