Job summary

CAPS & Maple City is hiring a Medical Assistant to join a cross-disciplinary care team and drive the mobile health unit to community events. You will support patient care, vaccine administration, labs, and data entry within an EMR system.

The role requires strong customer service, bilingual Spanish/English abilities, and adherence to HIPAA. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and drive a 30 ft MHU with a valid license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associates degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• One-year certificate from college or technical school or related training preferred.
• Experience in cross-cultural settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced setting.
• Maintain accurate data in the electronic health record and ensure patient privacy per HIPAA.
• Assist with maintaining the mobile unit at events and operate the unit.
• Administer vaccines and other injections; perform labs and procedures and blood draws.
• Perform telephone encounters and communicate with patients as needed.

Job Summary

The Medical Assistant (MA) is a member of a cross-disciplinary care team that includes health care providers, nurses, behavioral health providers, and other support staff. This MA supports the mission and values of CAPS & Maple City by providing patient care and supporting the work of the medical team. In addition, this MA will be responsible for driving the mobile health unit (MHU) to and from community events, and any set up and tear down needed, by following the MHU protocol.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Demonstrates excellent customer service while greeting patients in a fast-paced setting.
• Maintains accurate data in the electronic health record and maintains patient privacy and security as outlined by HIPAA.
• Helps with maintaining the mobile unit at events
• Understands and can fully operate the mobile unit
• Utilizes EMR in patient care
• Utilizes multiple resources for staff communication
• Administers vaccines and other injections
• Administers labs and procedures
• Completes patient care tasks, such as blood draws
• Completes certain telephone encounters
• Communicates with patients
• Other duties that support our shared work, as assigned

Requirements

Required Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
• Proficient in Word and Excel; experience using an EMR or other integrated software system preferred
• Ability to write routine reports and documentation
• Ability to speak effectively to the public in person or on the telephone
• Bilingual: Spanish/English
• Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills

Education and Experience

• High school graduate or GED equivalent required
• Associates degree or equivalent work experience preferred
• One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
• Experience in cross-cultural settings

Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
• Ability to perform prolonged periods of time in front of a computer
• Ability to perform prolonged or extensive standing and walking
• Ability to perform considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
• Ability to drive a 30 ft MHU following all protocols
• Have a valid driver’s license
• Have an acceptable driving record
