Honeycomb Management Group in Memphis, TN is seeking a qualified Medical Assistant to support providers with direct patient care across multiple sites. The role requires a minimum of five years of CMA/RMA experience and strong medical terminology, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities include preparing records, assisting with exams, documenting vitals, maintaining rooms, managing supplies, collecting specimens, conducting basic procedures, and coordinating referrals.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and patient communication.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Review and prepare medical records prior to patient exam and document clinic activities.
• Assist with patient history, physicals, and simple in-house procedures.
• Check patient vital signs and record measurements in the chart.
• Prepare and maintain exam rooms and ensure a clean, sanitized environment.
• Maintain supplies inventory and report equipment issues to supervisor.
• Collect specimens and prepare lab samples; assist physicians with lab results.
• Administer breathing treatments, injections, EKGs, and related procedures.
• Answer calls, relay patient requests, and provide provider instructions to patients.
• Assist with scheduling referrals for treatments and manage patient communications.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid as needed.
• Provide clinical support for other site locations as needed.
• Perform other duties as required.

The Medical Assistant plays a critical role in assisting healthcare providers with direct patient care.

This position requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience. Qualified candidates must possess strong knowledge of medical terminology, communication skills, organizational skills, and a patient-focused attitude.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Reviews and prepares medical records to ensure completeness prior to patient exam, obtaining missing documentation. Documents clinic visit, observations, and related activities.
• Assists with initiation of patient history and physical assessment. Assist physicians with physical exams and simple in-house procedures.
• Checks patient vital signs and takes body measurements, documenting results in patient chart.
• Prepares and maintains exam and treatment rooms, cleaning after patient discharges to ensure a clean and sanitized environment.
• Maintains supplies inventory and ensures patient care equipment is clean and properly functioning, reporting defective equipment and supplies to supervisor.
• Collects specimens and prepares them for lab and performs urinalysis on urine specimens. Prepares lab results for physicians to sign.
• Administers breathing treatments, injections, performs EKGs, etc.
• Answers phone calls, relaying patient requests and questions to appropriate individuals. Explains provider instructions to patient, as appropriate. Provides teaching to patients and families within scope of knowledge base.
• Assists with scheduling/referral of patients for specific treatments.
• Responds to medical emergencies and administers first aid as appropriate.
• Provide Medical Assistant clinical support for other site locations as needed.
• Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of an approved Medical Assistant program
• Five (5) years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant
• Medical Assistant Certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or for the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through the American Medical Technologists (AMT)
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements:

The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination. The physical requirements of this position are medium work - exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently. The Medical Assistant is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading. Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact. Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
