Job summary

Dignity Health Medical Group, Dominican, California, seeks a Medical Assistant Medical Office Rep to support daily patient and clinical operations. This role is in the outpatient setting and is represented by SEIU-UHW.

You will prepare charts, assist with exams, relay physician instructions, administer physician-directed medications, take vital signs, and manage EMR while coordinating with providers, insurers and pharmacies for authorizations and refills, all with a focus on empathetic patient

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Formal Medical Assistant program completed (as per DHMF HR) or equivalent military training.
• Basic Life Support - CPR required upon hire.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Medical Assistant Medical Office Rep, you will ensure smooth daily operations for your patients and the medical team. You can expect to support multiple patients daily, depending on physician availability. This position is represented by the SEIU-UHW.

Every day you will proactively prepare patient charts, assist with patients exams or procedure and relay physician instructions, administer physician-directed medication and perform accurate vital sign measurements, manage medical records (charts and EMR), communicate patient concerns to providers, and collaborate with physicians, insurance, and pharmacies for medication authorizations and refills.

Job Requirements

Required

• High School Graduate or High School GED
• Satisfactory completion of a formal Medical Assistant program pursuant to the Division of Allied Health Professions or military training that is equivalent to an accredited Medical Assistant program (determination by DHMF H.R. department in conjunction with the State Division of Allied Health Professions.)
• Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire

Preferred

• Six (6) month's experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Assistant preferred
• Six (6) month's experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Office Receptionist preferred; or an equivalent amount of experience in a high-volume customer service role in another industry/environment; or 6 months experience as a Phone Receptionist or Health Information Associate within DHMF
