Job summary

Dignity Health Medical Foundation is seeking a Medical Assistant to support daily operations for patients and the medical team in an outpatient setting. You will assist with exams, prepare charts, and relay physician instructions while maintaining accurate vital signs and patient records.

The role requires completing a Medical Assistant program, CPR upon hire, and flexibility to work with physicians, insurance providers, and pharmacies for authorizations and refills.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED General Studies is required.
• Formal Medical Assistant program completion is required or equivalent per HR policies.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) upon hire is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient charts and assist with exams or procedures as directed by physicians.
• Relay physician instructions and administer physician-directed medications; take accurate vital signs.
• Maintain medical records (charts and EMR) and communicate patient concerns to providers.
• Collaborate with physicians, insurers, and pharmacies for medication authorizations and refills.

As our Medical Assistant, you will ensure smooth daily operations for your patients and the medical team. You can expect to support multiple patients daily, depending on physician availability. This position is represented by the SEIU-UHW.

Every day you will proactively prepare patient charts, assist with patients exams or procedure and relay physician instructions, administer physician-directed medication and perform accurate vital sign measurements, manage medical records (charts and EMR), communicate patient concerns to providers, and collaborate with physicians, insurance, and pharmacies for medication authorizations and refills..

To be successful in this role, you must have an enthusiasm to help others and the ability to work efficiently and provide empathy for our patients.

Required

Job Requirements

• High School Graduate or High School GED General Studies
• Satisfactory completion of a formal Medical Assistant program pursuant to the Division of Allied Health Professions or military training that is equivalent to an accredited Medical Assistant program (determination by Dignity Health Medical Foundation HR department in conjunction with the State Division of Allied Health Professions.)
• Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire

Preferred

• Six (6) month's experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Assistant
• Certified Medical Assistant AAMA, upon hire or
• Cert Med Asst - MMCI, upon hire or
• Registered Medical Assistant, upon hire or
• Medical Assistant Certification: CA, upon hire
